Safety Superhero Academy Delivers Whole-School Programme at John Hunt Academy sponsored by Proud 2B Safe!

On one of the hottest days of the year, every pupil from Year 1 to Year 6 at John Hunt Academy in Newark took part in a full day of inspiring safety education workshops - all made possible by the generous support of Proud 2B Safe.

Led by The Safety Superhero Academy, the sessions were delivered back-to-back across the whole school, reaching 290 children in just one day. Despite the high temperatures, the pupils remained engaged, curious, and eager to learn. Each session used age-appropriate storytelling, interactive activities, and hands-on learning to help children explore the idea that safety is a shared responsibility - and that anyone can be a Safety Superhero.

Founder Bethany Holroyd said:

“We were blown away by the enthusiasm and focus from every year group. Even with the heat, the children stayed energised and interested from start to finish. There was real excitement about learning how to keep themselves and others safe, which is exactly what our sessions are all about.”

The day was fully funded by Proud 2B Safe, a long-standing supporter of safety culture and education. Their Managing Director, Abbi Taylor joined the Academy team on the day to experience the sessions in action who said:

“When Beth launched her Safety Superheroes book and then the Safety Superheroes Academy, we knew straight away we wanted to support her mission. Her vision truly resonates with us - starting important safety conversations early, and equipping children with the confidence, awareness, and tools they’ll carry for life. We were proud to sponsor Beth to deliver her brilliant sessions at a local primary school. Seeing the kids so engaged, energised, and excited to learn about safety in such a fun and fresh way was incredible. Watching them dress up, talk confidently about hazards, and step into the role of Safety Superheroes themselves was just brilliant. Beth isn’t just teaching - she’s inspiring the next generation to find their voice, look out for themselves and others, and even consider a future in health and safety. Seeing the children look up to her as the real-life Safety Superhero was such a sweet and powerful moment.”

The feedback from pupils was overwhelmingly positive, many children commented on how much they enjoyed the story and dressing up in PPE, with one pupil summarising the day as:

“I loved everything - except leaving!”
