Voluntary Advisory Role | Help shape the future of grassroots safety education

We’re developing a new education programme under The Safety Superhero Academy, designed to embed safety mindsets early in a child’s learning journey.

This will include CPD for educators, lesson-ready classroom resources, and child-friendly workbooks - all designed to introduce core safety principles in a way that’s practical, age-appropriate, and empowering.

To ensure the programme hits the mark, we’re forming a voluntary Advisory Group. This group will bring together voices from education, safety, and inclusion to co-create and shape the content from the ground up. This is a voluntary role, but we hope it offers real professional and personal value - and opens doors to future opportunities

What is the role of the Advisory Group?

The group will act as a development team, offering insight, challenge, and inspiration across every stage of the project. It will be led by us, but your voice will shape what educators and children engage with across the UK.

You’ll help us:

  • Develop ideas for content, tone, and structure

  • Ensure the CPD and classroom materials are accurate, engaging, inclusive and accessible

  • Advise on safeguarding, SEND and curriculum alignment

  • Review draft content and give feedback on design, language, and clarity

  • Champion the importance of early safety education in your networks

Who we’re looking for

We’re building a small but mighty team made up of:

  • 2 OSH professionals - These two posts are filled.

  • 2 Primary educators (classroom or curriculum leads welcome)

  • 1 SEND or Inclusion Specialist (with experience in child development, accessibility, or inclusive curriculum design)

Time commitment

We appreciate your time is valuable, so here’s a simple breakdown of what to expect:

  • Monthly virtual meetings/workshops: Around 1 to 2 hours, mainly in the early stages to brainstorm and develop course content together.

  • Independent review and feedback: 1 to 2 hours between meetings to review drafts, provide insights, and help refine materials at your own pace.

  • Later stages: As we approach final drafts, your input will focus on review and quality checks, which should require less time.

This is a collaborative, hands-on role designed to make a real impact on how safety education is delivered to children nationwide - and your expertise will be key to making it successful.

What’s in it for you?

  • Be part of something unique and meaningful: shaping how safety is introduced to thousands of children across the UK

  • Professional recognition: your name, bio and a link to your website or profile will feature on our website as a supporter and contributor.

  • Cross-sector collaboration: join a team of passionate professionals across education, health, and safety

  • Potential impact for your own work: visibility, credibility, and a values-led project aligned with your expertise

As this is a voluntary role and we’re building a small, values-led network, we’re not able to accept everyone who applies - or respond individually to every expression of interest. We’ll be in touch if we feel it’s the right fit, and truly appreciate you taking the time to connect with our mission.

Thank you for supporting The Safety Superhero Academy!
